Ok, so, why does  your firm needs to be actively advertising on Pinterest? I’ll tell you why.

Lets start with the basics, shall we?

1st. According to the infographic above, Pinterest website traffic increased over 5,000% between 2011 and 2012…now I don’t know how anything increases more than 100%…but I’m not a math guy…I’m a smart, creative, sales guy. Anyway, this means Pinterest is one of the fastest growing social media platforms, and therefore, sales platforms, on the internet. Facebook and Twitter both grew rapidly, and initially, a lot of people had their doubts about advertising and selling products on Facebook and Twitter. However, now, those are the two most used social networking sites in the world. Firms who advertise on those platforms which a constantly growing worldwide customer base. I predict the same thing will happen with Pinterest, your firm needs to be advertising on Pinterest to reach those customers that have caused the traffic increase. If you don’t, you will be knowingly avoiding and disregarding a growing, global, and young customer base. Very, very bad for business.

2nd. Pinterest products generate 4x the revenue that those same products advertised on twitter generate. Which means any product you put on Pinterest, is 4 times as likely to sell rather than if it was on twitter. More importantly, though this is only a personal opinion, I think the sharing features of Pinterest will also help generate more views, shares, and ultimately purchases. The way Pinterest works is a lot like a virtual cork board. Pinterest users have their organized virtual cork board, for example, a board completely devoted to…lets say…shoes, and they can have another one completely devoted to clothes…you get the idea. Well, everyone they are friend with on Pinterest, can go to their paige, and see these individual cork boards, and if they see stuff they like, can post those things to their own cork boards. You get it? If not I’ll make it simpler; Pinterest is essentially a tool with which your customers will spread the visual representation of your product throughout the internet…FOR FREE. It’s free advertising, it’s free word of mouth, it’s free product placement. You would be an idiot not to use it.

3rd. Moms are 61% more likely to use Pinterest than any other demographic. Further, women make up more than 2/3 of Pinterest users. These two demographics have proven to be the most revenue generating markets in sales. Please, do the math. You will be engaging women, you will be engaging mothers, and, most importantly, they will be engaging each other and spreading the word of your product.

In my opinion, Pinterest will become the new Facebook for advertising, everyone will have one, and they will be sharing ideas, information, products, a myriad of things that your company needs to be involved in. And, if your firm is not involved in the growing Pinterest market…your failing, and falling behind.
